Wunderkind Reads: But I Don't Eat Ants by Dan Brown (Ilustrations by Kelly Fry)

"Koalas aren't called Eucalyptus-eaters. Pandas aren't called Bamboo-eaters. Jaguars eat Anteaters, but they aren't called Anteater-eaters!" insists a voracious young Anteater who will gobble up just about every food except for one: ants! This clever take on the picky-eater is full of wry humor and silly puns as the anteater takes us through the food he LOVES to eat, all while repeating the refrain, "but I don't eat ants." That is until dinnertime when his mom presents him with with a "fiery" surprise. The final punchline playfully depicts the often illogical rationalizations of young picky eaters in a way that will have kids and their parents laughing. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

Jump Start Summer Reading with Macmillan

It's that time of year again! Every summer, my daughters and I participate in our own summer reading program - we each set a goal of how many books we want to read over the summer {I picked 75, Peyton - 15, Little Miss Lo - 20, and Kenziekins chose 25 (this year she'll be reading some on her own and then we'll help her reach her goal by reading to her as well}. The person who meets their goal first will get the ultimate bragging rights and I'll buy them a book of their choice when the competition ends {right before they go back to school on August 7}. Here are a few selections from Macmillan that we've added to London and Kenzie's TBR stack! {Books provided for review/feature consideration}

Wunderkind Reads: Dustrats! Or, The Adventures of Sir Muffin Muffinsson by Adrià Regordosa

Sir Muffin Muffinsson is a valiant, watchful cat charged with the care and keeping of baby Emma while she sleeps. It’s a busy job, and this week Sir Muffin forgot to do the tidying up! Seven days worth of dust springs to life in the form of "Dustrats," mischievous little imps who run amok through the house. While Sir Muffin chases the critters from room to room with his trusty vacuum, Emma’s vivid dreams begin to morph the world around him: An ocean in the bathroom, a magic kingdom in the attic, things are getting out of control! Will Sir Muffin make it back to the nursery before Emma’s dreams become a little too wild? An enchanting story full of imagination and adventure, Dustrats by Adrià Regordosa (published by POW! Kids Books) makes for a bedtime favorite. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

Book provided for review/feature consideration

As much as we’d like to, there’s no way to completely shield our children from all change, conflict, and grief. The truth is, there’s so much beauty in the world often overshadowed by the “scary” that it’s more important than ever that we teach our kids how to confidently grow in the face of challenge.

Relief For Kids Afraid of the Dark During Daylight Saving Time {Wunderkind Reads}

Book provided for review/feature consideration

I love the sun, summer time, and day light, so suffice it to say, I'm not exactly thrilled with the loss of daylight hours for Daylight Saving Time {which falls on November 6 this year}. But the increase of dark hours can be even tougher for children who are afraid of the dark.

Chris Tomlin & Pat Barrett Write First Children’s Book, Good Good Father

Book provided for review/feature consideration

Chris Tomlin has written songs that are sung by more people on a weekly basis than any other songwriter in the world. Now, his most recent single and K-LOVE “Song of the Year,” Good Good Father, lends inspiration to the children’s picture book of the same name, available Oct. 4, 2016. This delightful story is Tomlin’s first book for children, co-written with Pat Barrett, and will leave little ones with a greater understanding of who God is and of who they are because they are loved by Him.
