How to Clean and Care for Natural Stone Countertops

marble.jpg

Keeping a kitchen clean and sanitized is important for obvious health reasons, but regular maintenance and care can prolong the life of household appliances, cabinets, flooring, and countertops. When caring for any household item it is important to research and understand the proper care instructions and actively maintain upkeep. Natural stone countertops are a visually stunning addition to any kitchen or bathroom, but they do require ongoing maintenance and care.

My Journey To A Better Me: (Not So) Extreme Measures with Bodies byDesign Atlanta

I previously opened up about my struggles to loose weight and my body image issues, and while I share updates fairly regularly on Instagram, it's been a while since I've given any sort of updates here, so here goes...

Since I wrote that initial post in late March, I lost seven pounds and then promptly gained it right back, then lost 10 and gained it right back after I sprained my ankle in early August. I'm happy to say that I'm now 12 lbs down and have kept it off for well over a month now! It's a small victory in the grand scheme of things {really a mere drop in the bucket in relation to the amount I'd ultimately like to shed}, but it's a victory nonetheless.

I'm A Red Head Thanks to K. Logan Salon!

I very seldom go to a salon to get my hair done, but I was in desperate need of a hair cut {I was suffering from a severe case of pyramid head-my curly girls know of what I speak} AND out of the blue, my hubby voiced an interest in seeing me as a red head. I've been infatuated with red hair since I was a little girl {my mother used to color her hair red and I remember going to the salon with her when she got it done}, and I'd been trying to achieve the perfect shade of red on my own since I was about 13 {I started with Herbal Essence semi permanent colors}, but have never been able to do it on my own. When we got married, my sweet man told me he liked my hair just the way it was, so there was no need for me to change anything. The itch to try something new has been underneath the surface though, so when he pointed out a shade that he thought would be pretty on me, he set the wheels in motion. Then I was contacted about reviewing a new salon in Atlanta called K. Logan Hair Salon.  The timing of the offer couldn't have been any better! So after I made sure the stylist had experience with natural hair {it's very important to know your hair type and make sure that you and your stylist know what you're getting into}, I made an appointment for a cut and color.

A Stroll in the Park! AKA: An OOTD Post

We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and headed down to the park for a couples' photo shoot. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we discovered so much in the park that we never noticed before. The hubby got incredible shots of the city and the girls, and attempted to get some good shots of me-and I've come to the conclusion that I need to drop a few more LBs before I'm comfortable in front of the camera (though I am making good progress on the weight loss front since I weaned the baby and am no longer constantly ravenous). Anyway, here are the shots of me (and the lil bits) that I did not veto...

A Day in the Life: Piedmont Park (Again)

We headed back down to Piedmont Park with the lil bits. We didn't quite make it for the Farmer's Market (sigh), but it was a gorgeous day nonetheless and we enjoyed a delicious picnic of fried chicken, cole slaw, and potato salad (it was my cheat day, and I only had a spoonful each of salad and slaw, and I NEVER eat the skin on my chicken and ALWAYS only have one breast piece). We didn't walk around the park as planned, but we enjoyed watching the girls run around (and around and around) with each other...

A Day in the Life: Red Bull Soapbox Race

Yesterday we returned to Piedmont Park (which is swiftly becoming one of my favorite places) for the Red Bull Soapbox Races. It was really kind of spectacular! There were SO many people there, but I didn't see an ounce of trouble or drama. Red Bull and beer were flowing copiously and there was such a wide variety of food trucks; I was slightly disappointed that we had brought our own provisions for a picnic lunch. C'est la vie!

There were so many fun and funny characters and inventive cars, and just the sheer amount of people made it difficult to focus and take pictures (especially since I was pushing a stroller and navigating through a massive crowd), so I didn't get as many good ones as I wanted to truly depict how much fun we had. But here's what I did get...
