The gym can be one of the most intimidating places to go - even outside of a pandemic. Whether you are male or female, if you're a newbie to the gym, you are more than likely to feel under scrutiny, as if people are watching you. The machinery can be intimidating, and the crowds of people who seem to know exactly what they're doing can put you off. When you walk into a gym for the first time, you feel like a spotlight has turned on overhead. Then, you add the cost of the gym on top and there are plenty of reasons you should avoid it entirely.
Right now, we're in the middle of a pandemic that is closing all the gyms, which means that you have the chance to get yourself active at home. From HIIT to strength, you can workout from home in the comfort of your own four walls. You can order your chosen weights, treadmill or air bike online, and you can make working out work for you. Getting fit during a pandemic doesn't have to be impossible, and you don't need a pricey gym membership to help you to do that. So, with that in mind, let's check out some tips to get fit during this pandemic.
Use Your Own Weight. You may still feel pretty intimidated by the idea of ordering weights, but you don't have to if you want to get strong. You can use your own body weight to your advantage and get that taut, toned physique that you've always wanted. There are so many workouts that you can do at home with just your body weight as your tool.
HIIT It. There are a ton of HIIT workouts ranging from 8-minute intervals to 30 minute full workouts online, and these bursts of intense, physical activity are going to inject a little fun into your exercise routine. Getting fit doesn't have to be boring, and you get to check out a range of workouts that will encourage you to do it your own way.
Stretch. Yoga and Pilates are both fantastic ways to work out from home. You can enjoy their targeted core strength approach and you can unwind, tone up and do less of the cardio at the same time.
Love the Pavement. Working out at home doesn't necessarily mean staying at home. You can embrace the outdoors and use the pavement as a free tool to exercise. This is an exceptional option as it's free, it gets you breathing the fresh air and there are a ton of exercises that you can do just pounding the pavement! Get the right running shoes and walking boots, though, so make sure that you get out there in all weathers and embrace the fresh air.
Exercise doesn't have to be boring and it doesn't have to take every hour of the day. However, don't ever think that you can't do it - exercise is for everyone, and there is health at every size. Workout to feel good and grab that energy boost!
