My thoughts:

The book is told in first person narrative from Jamie Watson's perspective. I usually have a hard time getting into books that are told from the male perspective {or written by male authors}, but the past few books I've read {Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children} have been utterly enjoyable so I'm happy to change my opinion and broaden my horizons on that front. That being said, it took about 50-75 pages to truly get into the book {it took me two or three days to get through those}, but once I got past that - I couldn't put the book down! The author did a great job of letting the reader learn and discover things just as Jamie did, which really added to the excitement, intrigue, and suspense of the book. The relationship between Jamie and Charlotte is riveting - the characters themselves are well fleshed out and I really came to care for them and it was wonderful watching their bond develop. There was also very entertaining action in the plot - but at times it seemed a bit unrealistic considering the age of the characters. Actually, there were many times in the story when I forgot that I was reading about teenagers.

Final Thoughts:

I loved this book so much more than I had expected to. I haven't really been all that into Sherlock Holmes but after ready this book, I want to watch the BBC series and I just set my DVR to start recording Elementary!  I wish it hadn't taken so long to get into the book, but if you choose to pick it up {which I highly recommend you do} and have the same difficulty, push through it because it is so worth it! I can't wait until the release of the next book in the trilogy. This book was such a great and fun read and I fell head over heels for this plot and the characters. Overall, I definitely recommend this book to all type of readers. Even if you’re an adult and not a fan of mysteries perse, I think you would definitely still be able to enjoy this book!
