An Adult Coloring Book with a Purpose: Inkspirations for Recovery

The craze for adult coloring books began three years ago and shows no sign of letting up. In response to this demand, and realizing the vast therapeutic effects of coloring, HCI Books has come up with their own unique series, beginning with the recovery and addictions community. First in the series, Inkspirations for Recovery, is by the talented illustrator and author, Judy Clement Wall. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

If the trend is already white hot and Amazon's bestseller list is showing nearly half of its books in this genre, why would HCI Books choose now to jump into the crowded adult coloring book category? HCI is responding with Inkspirations for Recovery, the first in a series of adult coloring books that stand out from the pack. Like its legendary bestselling series, Chicken Soup for the Soul, HCI's Inkspirations is poised for success. More importantly, in the company's tradition, the books are poised to make a difference in people's lives.

"We think our first adult coloring book targets an audience that may benefit greatly from the stress-relieving and therapeutic qualities of coloring – the recovery and addictions community,” says Publisher and President, Peter Vegso. "HCI was founded in the addictions and recovery business and more and more has been returning to its roots and with conference and magazine divisions that cater to addictions professionals, Inkspirations seems a natural fit.”

HCI understands that the industry's two biggest adult coloring books have sold over 13.5 million copies in 50 countries since 2013 and is inspired to launch its own trademark series.

Inkspirations for Recovery features the talented illustrator and writer, Judy Clement Wall (www.judyclementwall), as well as recovery icon, Rokelle Lerner, Senior Clinical Advisor of Eric Clapton's treatment center, Crossroads Centre Antigua and author of numerous bestselling books including Daily Affirmations for Adult Children of Alcoholics.

"I'm thrilled to be associated with the first book in the Inkspirations line and plan on incorporating the coloring books in my practice,” said Lerner. "The effect coloring has on the brain is amazing for relieving stress which is key in the healing process of anyone suffering from addiction.”

HCI will market the Inkspirations for Recovery edition of its new series to the general public as well as to counselors, social workers and psychotherapists, and is offering "private label” branding on the books for treatment centers. The second book in the series is Inkspirations for Women featuring NY Times bestselling author, Marci Shimoff (Chicken Soup for the Women's Soul series and Happy For No Reason), and will be available in late March 2016.
