Still Struggling With Daylight Savings? Try These Tips!

Although we gain extra time with Daylight Savings, this also means shorter, colder, winter days, which will make us all want to spend more time sleeping. While we're already a week in to this change, if you're like me, you're still feeling a little sluggish.  Maybe these tips on how you can make sure you're getting the best night's sleep possible will help us all pep up a bit and embrace Daylight Savings!

DE-STRESS AND UNWIND: It’s important to take time to unwind before bed to ease the mind because a consistent routine every day can help you fall asleep more quickly and reliably. Lighting an aromatic candle {like Le Feu de L’eau Le Feu Violet Candle, $62 http://lefeudeleau.com} will help calm the nerves before bed.

NOURISH AND REGENERATE: While we sleep, the cells making up our skin are hard at work trying to repair all the damage that has been accumulated during the whole day overnight. This is the time to utilize nighttime skincare to help repair, nourish and regenerate. Make the most of this time by slathering on Le Couvent des Minimes Loving Care Body Balm ($32) before climbing in the bed.

THE PERFECT MATTRESS: People sleep for approximately one third of their lives and studies have shown the benefits of sleep have long-lasting effects on your health and well-being. Look for a mattress {like those from Hastens} that has natural fibers such as hypoallergenic horsehair that acts as a mini ventilation system eliminating moisture and allowing fresh air in for a comfortable night’s rest.

OLD SCHOOL REMEDY: If all else fails, try a glass of milk. There's a reason why your grandma always told you to drink warm milk - it contains tryptophan, an amino acid that helps induce sleep.

Hope these tips help you to get a good night's sleep, tonight, and every night of the year! Until next time...
