Keep Moisturized From Roots to Tips This Winter

With winter weather in full effect throughout most of the country {I'm in the Atlanta area, where we are currently enduring the second Snowpocalypse in a matter of weeks}, below are some tips and product recommendations to help keep you moisturized from head to toe during these cold and dry winter days!

PROTECT YOUR HAIR:

We all run late sometimes, and our beauty routine suffers. Instead of lovingly toweling and gently combing our hair, we dash out of the shower and roughly detangle our hair while it’s still wet. This is when your hair is most fragile, causing it to shed easily. When tangled, hair is 60% more likely to snap; add water, and breakage becomes 95% more likely. Swing the odds back in your favor with Carol’s Daughter Monoi (Repairing) Hair Mask (pictured above). Formulated with indigenous Tahitian Monoi, the formula protects wet hair and strengthens from the inside out. This deeply repairing treatment nourishes your hair from the root to ends to undo unwanted damage and prevent it in the future. ($32.00 at Carol’s Daughter Stores, Carolsdaughter.com, and select Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, Belk and Dillard’s stores nationwide)

PROTECT YOUR HANDS/FEET:

Skyy Hadley, celebrity manicurist and owner of As “U” Wish Nail Spa, Hoboken’s #1 spa boutique, pampers her clients with her signature Milk-Me-Away warm milk manicures and pedicures during cold winter months. The warm milk soak is a great way to re-moisturize your hands and feet during dry winter months and the sugar scrub that follows is a great way to remove the extra dead skin. Sweet almond shea butter lotion is then deeply massaged into the skin to lock in the moisture. You can create your own moisturizing milk bath at home by mixing a few cups of warm whole milk in a bowl with vanilla essential oil...

Follow this treatment with fan exfoliating scrub to remove the dead skin and applying a shea butter lotion or cream to lock in moisture. Try Skyy's own, all purpose Shea Butter exfoliating sugar scrub, Coochie Kuchee Coo ($28.00 at asuwishnailspa.com)

Protect your hands and always wear gloves when out in the cold and try to avoid excess hand washing. Hands exposed to bitter cold temperatures and gusty winds can cause your cuticles to become severely dry and ragged and even rip. Carry the new Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab ($7.49 at drugstores nationwide) in your bag for an instant soothing gel treatment that hydrates, shields and helps restore your cuticles.

I hope you and yours are staying safe and warm during this particularly harsh winter! Until next time...
