It was my pleasure {and total surprise} to be invited to be an beauty contributor for Beauty Box Five, a beauty sample subscription service, based out of Austin, TX! The mission of BB5 is to introduce subscribers to new brands and products by delivering five carefully selected beauty products each month. My unboxing was a little delayed this month, as I wanted to try each product before writing about them, so this is a review/unboxing all in one! So without further ado, here's a peek at what came in my January box! {Box sent for review consideration}
The theme of this month's box is Cheers to You and contained products to help you start the year off to a bright and beautiful start. There was also a tie-in with the new movie, That Awkward Moment, so not only did the box come with a convenient little pocket mirror, there's a chance to win a giveaway for a $300 spa package for two, autographed goodies from the cast of the movie, and a custom Beauty Box, just by liking them on Facebook!
My absolute favorite thing in the box was these SWISSCO Bath & Shower Exfoliating Gloves. I've been using similar gloves in the shower for a few months now and have noticed a marked difference in the texture, tone, and quality of my skin. It was about time for me to replace the ones I had, so these cam just in time! I love the generous size and the fit - these are much better than the generic ones I had previously purchased.
The H2O+ Sea Lotus Body Wash works hand in hand with the Exfoliating Gloves. I was very excited to try it out {especially since it was featured as the sneak peek prior to the box being released}, but I'm not gonna lie - I was slightly disappointed. I don't know quite what I was expecting {those darn expectations always getting in the way}, but I suppose I was expecting a little bit more than just a basic gel body wash. Don't get me wrong; it lathers well {especially with the gloves} and it cleanses suitably. But I don't particularly care for the scent and it just came across to me as a product that wasn't that special. Don't fret though! Apparently my hubby has a different opinion of it; the body wash is unisex and he has been using the sample sized tube ever since I left it in our shower!
The Jergens Daily Moisture Dry Skin Moisturizer was a nice find in the January box. My whole family are already fans and avid users of Jergens products {stay tuned for a review of their new BB Cream for the Body soon} so I like having this nifty little travel size tube to toss in my purse for on the go moisturizing. It is a basic, no nonsense lotion that smoothes and hydrates even the driest skin in a snap!
Finally, I received the Epic Blend Hemp Coconut Lip Balm. As y'all know, I am OBSESSED with lip balms and was excited to try this one due to its unique blend of ingredients. While it felt smooth {more like oil than wax} on my lips and is no doubt very hydrating, I had to wipe it off almost immediately. Something about the scent just did not agree with my olfactory senses. So I passed the tube on to my hubby and he has been using it happily ever since!
There was a fifth product, the Nubar Cuticle & Nail Oil, and I'm sure I would have loved it, but the bottle broke in transit and leaked all over everything else.
Now, it may seem as if this box was a bit of a mixed bag from the looks of my reviews, but honestly, regardless of how I feel about each individual item, they are still being used in my house. And truly, I would've been pleased with the exfoliating gloves alone {yes, I love them that much}! So I can say that I am a fan of this box overall and am quite looking forward to next month's box excited to see what's in next month's box - and at $12 a box {or $30 quarterly or $99 for a year}, I think it's an excellent value! Until next time...
