Be Chic Literate: The Time Traveling Fashionista (On Board the Titanic)

The cover of the book is just the tip of the beautifully illustrated iceberg...

The Time Traveling Fashionista On Board the Titanic by Bianca Turetsky is one of those rare novels that appeals to both young adults (like my daughter Peyton) and grown ups (like me) alike. Between the engaging story and the lovely illustrations, not only is the book a definite page turner, it is one that you will want to look at over and over again! {Book sent for the purpose of review-but in full disclosure, Peyton had already read and was a huge fan of the series}

Though Louise is a fan of fashion, she had a hard time adjusting to the styles worn by the first class passengers of the Titanic...
The series tells of the adventures of Louise Lambert, a huge vintage fashion lover. When she randomly receives an invitation for the Time Traveling Fashionista Vintage sale, Louise doesn't hesitate to go. While at the sale, she comes across a gorgeous, pink gown that she simply HAS to try on. Once the gown is on, Louise is not only suddenly transported back to the early 1900's - she's on board the fateful Titanic!  Her identity on the ship is that of Alice Baxter, one of Louise's ancestress'. Once Louise, realizes she is on the Titanic, she immediately sets out to warn all those aboard of the terrible fate that lies ahead of them. But as we know, the Titanic was thought to be "unsinkable," so her warnings fall upon deaf ears. I won't spoil the tale beyond this, but the concept is so unique and the story is intriguing and beyond entertaining!

Peyton loved the book so much, she immediately told me that I needed to read it too. I found that I was immediately enamored of the story, in addition to being floored by the beauty of the illustrations. So much attention was paid to the details and the overall feel of the book is more like reading someone's gorgeous, multimedia journal than a novel. The book really crosses genres: it is entertaining and enthralling to both young adult fans and grown ups and it will appeal to both fans of fantasy, history, and fashion.

One of the great things about The Time Traveling Fashionista, is that it is a series so Louise story and adventure don't end here! Stay tuned for our review of the next book in the series, The Time Traveling Fashionista at the Palace of Marie Antoinette! I can tell you now that both of these books {and the recently released third tome in the series} would make fantastic gifts for young and old fashionistas in your life. Not only are they good reads, but they a beautiful for display as well. Until next time...
