Often times, we see looks on the runway that just don't translate into real life wear for the average woman. That's no the case with the beautiful hairstyles created by Jenny Balding for the Paola Hernandez Spring/Summer 2014 Collection presentation.
"Paolas' collection this season has strong shapes but have a beautiful fluid movement so I wanted the hair to reflect that with the strength of the braid and soft flow of shin, silky, straight hair. This look can be worn really at any time but it's a fantastic alternative to wearing your hair down for an evening look." - Jenny Balding, Cutler Salon Stylist & Redken Grooming & Styling Expert
And here's her tips on recreating the look for yourself:
Blow dry very straight with Redken align 12 protective straightening lotion
Section a mohawk section of 2" width coming into a point at the nape.
Apply Redken align 12 protective straightening lotion again to this section as it will help hold the braid. Reverse braid from the hairline right down to the nape and secure with small band.
Finish with Cutler Flyaway Stick on stray hairs to keep the look polished.
Not only does this hairstyle seem very wearable to me {I can see attempting it for a date night with the hubby}, it seems simple enough to achieve on your own as well! What;s more, I can see myself wearing the outfit featured with this look {from head to toe I love it} as well as several other pieces from Paola Hernandez' collection. Here's a bit more information on the designer and her line...
Paola Hernández was born in Mexico City in 1982 and attended Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London to study fashion design. Soon after, she headed to Milan to learn shoe design and craftsmanship at ARS Sutoria, International Technical Institute of Art of Footwear and Leather Goods. The basis behind each of Paola’s collections stems from philosophical concepts. With an aesthetic embedded in clean lines, each piece reflects the philosophical thought behind each collection through specific colors, materials, and design.
The Paola Hernández Spring 2014 Collection titled “Singularity,” recognizes the spark that lives in each of our hearts. The spark is the sole place in each of us in which the entire universe dwells. When it is honored and connected with, we can become one. The collection portrays this notion of Singularity with pleats that represent the unfolding of the spark in each of our hearts when we are present and conscious.
Until next time...
