Weekend At Home Spa Ideas from Skyy Hadley of As “U” Wish Nail Spa!

Just because you don't have the time {or budget} to visit a spa, doesn't mean you can't pamper yourself just the same at home! Follow these tips from Skyy Hadley of As "U" Wish Nail Spa in Hoboken, NJ to create a special spa treatment at home!

Skyy Hadley

If you can't make it to Hoboken to experience Skyy's warm organic Citron Green Tea foot bath with Sea Salt Mint Scrub, then try the at-home version below and see why celebs like Janelle Monae make frequent visits to her salon.

You Will Need:
-Small foot tub (or large plastic bucket)
                -Green Tea Bags
                -Lemon Essential Oil
                -Foot File
                -Cuticle Stick
                -Small Jar or Bowl
                -Sea Salt (or Epsom Salt)
-Skin nutritive oil such as Olive Oil, Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil
                -Fresh Mint Leaves
Green Tea Foot Soak: Soak 5 Green Tea Bags in boiling water for about 20 minutes. Pour into tub, add a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil and let feet soak for about 10-15 minutes. After your feet have been sufficiently soaked, buff away the dead skin on the bottom of the feet with a Foot File. Focus on your heels to remove extra dead skin and then push back cuticles with a Cuticle Stick- leave the cutting to the professionals! Rinse with warm water and completely towel dry.

Sea Salt Mint Scrub: Add a few mint leaves into an empty jar and muddle to release their natural essential oils. Pour your oil into the jar until it is almost full. Fill half the jar with Sea Salt and mix with a spoon until salt is completely immersed in the oil mixture. Grab a spoonful of your scrub and work into legs and feet to completely exfoliate and remove dead skin.

Skyy also recommends incorporating cucumbers into your beauty routine! The final weeks of summer are here so cool off your summer skincare regime with cucumbers straight from the garden or your local Farmer’s Market! Cucumbers are packed full of water that can help re-hydrate and refresh your skin after hours in the sun or at the beach.

Placing chilled cucumber slices over your eyelids for 5 minutes can help reduce morning puffiness. You can create your own cucumber toner at home by mixing ½ a cucumber and 3 tablespoons of witch hazel in a blender until smooth and then pat onto your face using a cotton ball. Feel refreshed instantly! Or, relax your feet with a cooling cucumber foot soak after a long day at the theme park or summer fair. Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt into a warm water bath add slices from one cucumber and soak your feet for about 5-10 minutes to help reduce inflammation and swelling. Keep your feet elevated after the soak for best results.
