Keeping it Red with John Frieda!

Keeping It Red with John Frieda!
The hair swatch on the right is similar to the color I have now. The two hairstyle pics are what I want to get to {it will be mine!}. The accessories/cosmetics are inspired by my love of red hair, and of course the John Frieda products that are helping me maintain!

I recently shared a post about my visit to the hair salon, which resulted in me having red hair-and I plan to keep it that way! It takes work to maintain hair color {especially red shades, as they tend to wash down the drain pretty swiftly}, so it's really important to me that I use products that will help protect, maintain, and prolong my new color {in addition to being good for my curls}. I've been infatuated with red hair since I was a little girl {my mother used to color her hair red and I remember going to the salon with her when she got it done}, and I'd been trying to achieve the perfect shade of red on my own since I was about 13 {I started with Herbal Essence semi permanent colors}, but have never been able to do it on my own.

Whether its flame red, strawberry, or deep crimson, red hair is always in style. For those not born into the red-headed ranks, it takes work to keep the color vibrant. Highly porous red hair fades the fastest, so you have to protect your color every time you shower. That's exactly what John Frieda’s new Radiant Red Shampoo and Conditioner does! Formulated with enhanced anti-fade technology to preserve the intensity and saturation of rich reds, Radiant Red addresses the way red fades in three color dimensions to maintain vibrant, natural looking tones.

“We’ve always known that every shade has its own unique needs, but redheads need the most care. John Frieda® experts are applying this knowledge to fade protection,” explains John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh. “I advise my clients to use these colour preserving shampoos and conditioners for their shade so that they can hold onto the richness and shine of fresh color even weeks after a salon visit.”

The products themselves are actually red {but not color depositing}. The shampoo is on the left and the conditioner is on the right.

Out of the duo, I'm most impressed with the conditioner. While the shampoo really cleansed my hair and scalp well {which is not an easy feat since I use product in my hair almost every day, including oils}, it left my hair feeling a bit stringy and dry. BUT the conditioner saved the day! It immediately quenched my curls and had the right amount of slip to finger detangle in the shower. After leaving it in for 5-10 minutes {time sort of loses all meaning when I'm in the shower} and rinsing it out, my hair felt soft and silky. As a curly girl, I did use an additional, leave-in moisturizer afterwards, but if that is not your custom, I think your hair would be fine without it. I will continue to use these color preserving products {probably about once a week, in addition to curl specific products}as long as I have my red 'do! Until next time...
