If you follow me on Instagram (which you really should be doing), then you got a bit of a preview of this CGC. Honey Curls is a cruelty free hair care line (targeted towards the junior market) from Canada. This is my first time using them, and at first my expectations weren't high (idk exactly why, probably because they have no discernible scent), but now I am super impressed. My curls look fantastic, shiny, and defined AND I'm pretty sure the amount of shrinkage that usually occurs was reduced. I used all four products as directed, and my hair is not crunchy, sticky, or heavy. I think I may be in love...
Step 1-Shampoo: The Honey Melody Shampoo is a rich gentle formula that nourishes and hydrates the hair.
Ingredients: Sodium Lauryl Ether 2 Sulfate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Glycerin, Water, Polyquaternium-7, Acriphyte of Lemon Fruit, Actiphyte of Grapefruit, Cetrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Honey, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Meadowfoam Estolide, Methylisothiazolinone (and) Phenethyl Alcohol (and) PPG-2, Methyl Ether, Mica (and) Titanium Dioxide, Panthenol, Persea Gratissima Oil, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide and Tetrasodium EDTA
silicone free, paraben free
My Take: I'm not going to lie, I really put this shampoo to the test! I couldn't even tell you how long it had been since I washed my hair (but it had been at least a week) and in between I had used a heavy leave in treatment as well as regular spritzes of a spray oil-so my hair was in definite need of a fresh start. Though this does not claim to be a "clarifying" shampoo, it removed every trace of product build up from my hair and scalp. And even though I repeated the process, my hair was not left dry or stringy. I love this shampoo!
Step 2-Deep Condition: The Silky Honey Deep Conditioner instantly moisturizes and restores the hair, creating soft and manageable curls.
Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lecithin, Lauryl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol (and) Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Argania Spinosa Oil, Fragrance, Honey, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol (and) Methylisothiazolinone, Propylene Glycol
sulfate free, paraben free, protein free, glycerin free
My Take: The ONLY attribute that could have made this conditioner better was if it had a discernible scent. If it smelled good on top of being awesome, it would be a hands down holy grail for me! I used it as part of the 4 step system and the results were absolutely stellar! My curls were shiny and defined with minimal frizz. What was so great was that my hair was adequately moisturized without being heavy or weighed down. There was a certain lightness to my tresses after using the products that I absolutely adored! It was also perfect for detangling my hair in shower. I also really like t the fact that the packaging features a pump (it just makes using it super convenient). This is a definite winner in my book!
Step 3-Moisturize: The Honey Moisture Leave-In Conditioner helps to soothe rough cuticles and reduce breakage. This Leave-In Conditioner is non-greasy and never builds up,so you can use a generous amount against high humidity and high heat appliances.
Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lecithin, Lauryl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol (and) Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride Cyclopentasiloxane, Argania Spinosa Oil, Fragrance, Honey, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol (and) Methylisothiazolinone, Propylene Glycol
sulfate free, paraben free, protein free, glycerin free
My Take: My hair was so smooth and shiny and bouncy without being heavy, crunchy, or sticky! After using all four steps of the system, I had a head full of happy curls! I love that the package features a pump too. I absolutely smothered my freshly washed and conditioned with this creamy goodness and I can't even begin to describe how pleased I was with the results! I highly recommend this (as well as the entire line)!
Step 4-Style: Honey Mist Conditioner acts as a protective agent while adding moisture and shine. Smoothing rough cuticles that are responsible for dry rough edges. Honey Mist is great for braids and other styles. Honey Mist Conditioner will always leave your child's hair feeling soft and manageable. The silk amino acids penetrate and strengthen the hair without build up.
Ingredients: Deionized Water, Glycerin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Caprylic Capric Triglycerides, Theobroma Cocoa, Coconut Oil, Amino Acid Blend, Polyquaternium-7, Grape Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa, Creatine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Honey, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Methylisothiazolinone (and) Phenethyl, Alcohol (and) PPG-2-Methyl Ether, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate
silicone free, sulfate free, paraben free, protein free
My Take: I couldn't be more impressed with the results of using this styling/moisturizing spray! First of all, I love products in a spray bottle-it makes it so much easier and less messy to use (plus we all know the less we touch our hair during the critical drying phase the better). I feel like all in all, using the Honey Curls four step system not only led to great results overall-there was definitely less shrinkage than usual which may the most impressive thing of all!
My first impression when seeing the packaging was that the products were marketed for kids, I totally spaced on that when it came time to use them-so I used them on myself (obvi). But, for them to have worked so well in my hair only makes me even more impressed by them. Now I have to figure out if I'm going to use them on my curly girls or keep them to myself! I kid, I kid... Also, I'm having some difficulty tracking down ordering info, but you can check their website, and I will update this post as soon as I know something.)
.
Until next time...
