So is it really a surprise that I might be slightly obsessed with bath goodies for my lil bits (and my not so lil bit too) or that that obsession has been passed on to them as well? No? Didn't think so! Don't judge me! Hygiene is important! And while it may be perfectly alright to have have (occasionally) smelly little boys, little girls that smell like "outside" (as I like to phrase it) are not the business. So here are a few of the lines and products that keep my little princesses clean, soft, and yummy smelling!
Dolphin Organics: This was a new to me brand but now I'm simply hooked. I'm increasingly becoming more interested in using more natural products as part of the girls' everyday routine and Dolphin Organics is a big part of that. Not only is the line extensive (bubble bath, lotion, shampoo/body wash, hair conditioner, and mineral sunscreen) and available in a selection of scents (as well as fragrance free), it is organic, natural, and completely free of artificial ingredients. They are vegan and cruelty free and carry the NSF and QAI seals of approval (two organizations committed to the highest quality standards for organic certification). I love to use the Norfolk Lavender Bubble Bath as part of the girls' night time routine, it's subtle scent is great for setting the mood for sleep and because it's tear free and hypoallergenic, I can feel safe knowing that we can use it nightly and not have to worry about it irritating their delicate skin.
gud: Though this is not strictly a children's toiletry, because it is natural, I like to use it with the lil bits. I have the both the Natural Body Wash and Shampoo in Pearanormal Activity and Orange Petalooza. Both scents are absolutely intoxicating and the washes lather up so luxuriously (and for the girls, the more bubbles, the better). I generally reach for the Pear scent for them, as I find the Orange scent quite sexy so I reserve it for myself!
Johnson's: You can't really mention baby bath goods without speaking off Johnson's! The scent of the classic baby lotion is sort of synonymous in the collective human psyche with babies. I love the current incarnation of products, with their updated formulations, such as the Baby Creamy Oil (which I use for myself in the summer months when I need that extra bit of sheen without the inherent greasiness of oil), and I love the Shea & Cocoa Butter Baby Wash and Baby Lotion for the girls. They're exactly what I reach for as the temperature drops and I notice that their skin is looking a little parched.
LUSH: I'm not going to lie-we are a household of LUSHies! Not only do the lil bits love Bath Bombs (Butterball, Honey Bee, and Ickle Baby Bot are their faves), this latest invention has them begging for bath time multiple times a day! FUN is a multi-purpose moldable soap, combining soap, shampoo, bubble bath, and malleable toy into a single roll. Each color has a unique scent that evokes fond childhood memories of things like fresh baking and candies. AND 2.5% of sales from every bar of FUN is contributed to the FUNd, a LUSH initiative which supports charities in Fukushima, Japan that create safe places for children to play outside. It's available in 5 distinctive scents and colors, and we've had a chance to try 3 of them: Pink (which is sweet like candy), Yellow (like warm, cozy vanilla), and Green (a refreshing, lemon-lime citrus mix). I cut three slices off of a roll for their bath time: one to hold under the running water to create an avalanche of bubbles AND color the bath water, and one slice a piece for them to play with (they havea similar consistency to modeling clay) until it's time to use them as soap to wash up. I can't tell you how much I love that they have so much fun (ha!) with these things and that we can get SO MANY uses out of them!
Melvita: I've already waxed poetic (on numerous occasions) about how much I love French organic pioneer, Melvita and their offerings for the younger set are just as awesome. This Shampoo Shower Gel for Hair and Body is Kenzie's personal favorite, because she likes the autonomy that the pump dispenser gives her. I keep this on a shelf that she can reach and when I tell her it's time to wash up, she can pump a few squirts of this gentle cleanser in her hands or wash cloth and attempt to wash herself (though she still requires a bit of assistance to clean the hard to reach spots).
So that's it! Those are my favorite bath time goodies for the girls. Any of these would be tried and true, awesome gifts for the little ones in your life (or whoever is responsible for their hygiene)-they are products that we reach for over and over again. Did I mention any of your faves? Or leave something out? Do you have any suggestions as to what the lil bits might like to try next? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Until next time...
