Testing Testing Reviva Labs- AKA: Help! My Skin Is Rebelling!

So yeah... my skin hates me right now. I literally went months without a single blemish, to sprouting big, ugly, painful pimples (that will likely leave scars), one right after the other (and at the moment-several simultaneously). I'm pretty sure it's because I've not been treating it so well lately (ie: the brush head on my Clarisonic needs to be replaced so I haven't been using it, which translated to me not even bothering to get out of bed at night to wash my face, I've just been using various cleansing cloths to get the job done). So I need an intervention, a fresh start. I thought I'd start it out with these two exfoliants from Reviva Labs (I'm hoping that if I get rid of the top layers of skin that hate me, the fresh new layers will be my best friend). Let's call this my mea culpa.

Reviva Labs Non-Chemical Light Skin Peel

Reviva Labs Microdermabrasion Pomegranate Scrub

The Reviva Labs Non Chemical Light Skin Peel is an all natural and paraben free exfoliant suitable for all skin types. It helps to dissolve dead harden skin cells on the surface of the skin (which can dampen the effectiveness of other skin treatments) and helps to remove impurities. It also can improve color tone, refine and smooth skin texture, and clear and brighten the skin. It is perfect for aging and troubled skin. I'm hoping that regular use will help to treat a prevent scars from this wretched break out. You only have to use it once a week: you put a light layer all over your face and leave it on for 3-5 minutes then rub it off with your fingers or a dry washcloth or towel. It has no discernible fragrance but my first whiff of it reminded me vaguely of unscented bathroom cleaner. It's not unpleasant, that's just the only thing that I can think to compare it to.

The Microdermabrasion Pomegranate Scrub from Reviva Labs is formulated with pure dead sea magnesium oxide crystals. I'm not going to pretend like I know what that means, but I will say that it translates to super fine particles that are not at all irritating to the skin, so even sensitive skin types can use it. This scrub can be used daily after cleansing and is the perfect precursor to your regular moisturizer or serum.

Together, these two scrubs seem to be a good alternative to my sorely missed Clarisonic (I've just been too lazy to go to the store and get a new brush head and I refuse to purchase it online because I detest shipping fees). I'm hoping that my skin is coming to a turning point and that we can resume our amicable relationship soon. Only time will tell, but so far so good! Have you tried Reviva Labs? They've been around since 1973 and have a huge base in the Health Food market. I'm pleased with everything that I've tried so far (there are a few other goodies I have to tell you lovelies about) and so I'm interested in seeing what else they have to offer. What do you do when your skin goes haywire? What are your tips and tricks to maintaining good face? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Until next time...

  1. This is actually the first time that I am hearing of Reviva Labs, but the products sound fantastic. I have the most sensitive skin, so I really can only use Neutrogena products without a problem; but I'd be willing to give these a whirl. :)
