Rimmel London Lasting Finish Powder Blush in Pink Sorbet: AKA My HG Blush

I'm going to be honest with you lovelies, up until fairly recently, my feeling towards blush have been a bit ambivalent. I mean, if I was going some place special and went through the trouble of putting on foundation, then I would apply some blush so that my face would have a bit of color. But I think I had been relying on the same 2 or 3 blushes I had from my time as a mark. rep (which was ages ago) and the blushes in a well loved (and also ancient) palette from Sephora. In other words, I had never purchased a blush on its own and simply because I felt as if it was a necessary component in my makeup routine.

Enter my discovery of YouTube makeup tutorials and a growing infatuation with MAC and I did finally purchase (yes, with my very own funds)a beautiful blush from the Hey, Sailor! Collection. It's a beautiful shade and I have put it to very good use. But it is not a shade that I can see wearing on a daily basis. See, I still didn't see the use in wearing blush regularly. That's probably because I had yet to find that just right shade for me.

So yesterday, I'm playing around with some goodies from Rimmel London in preparation for an upcoming post (and possible YouTube video). It was only a test run, so I just applied some Tinted Moisturizer (for details on my current fave click here), and concentrated mostly on my eyes. I won't get into details about the products (other than they were pretty awesome and all Rimmel London) or my technique and the outcome (stay tuned though, because that is coming soon). I will say this though: on a whim, I decided to apply some blush to my cheeks. I had 3 from Rimmel London to choose from and for some reason I picked the one that was least appealing to me, I guess because I knew that I was just doing this for fun and I wanted to see what it would look like. At first glance, you would totally think that this shade would come off looking ashy or powdery on my complexion, but boy would you be wrong!

This light, unassuming, almost basic pink gave me the most gorgeous, natural looking flush I've ever seen. It wasn't bright or in your face, but it was definitely noticeable and quite lovely. In other words, totally swoon worthy. Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Powder Blush in Pink Sorbet (018) is THE product that demonstrated to me once and for all, why blush is an important part of every girl's makeup routine. So while I was sent this majestic product as a sample for consideration and review, I can honestly say that I am so smitten by it, that I WILL be purchasing a back up (or two or three) because I plan on using the heck out of it, and don't want to risk ever being without it. So it is officially HG status for me :)

What is your favorite blush? What products hold holy grail status for you? Are any of them from Rimmel London? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Until next time...

  1. I LOVE Rimmel blushes! Actually, all of their products are fantastic. Whenever people want a good blush or bronzer recommendation at work, I always go to Rimmel first!
