I Might Be Obsessed: Argan Oil Edition

I Might Be Obsessed: Argan Oil Edition
I Might Be Obsessed: Argan Oil Edition by mamafashionist1 featuring Josie Maran body moisturizers

I LOVE ARGAN OIL! To me, it is like the nectar of the gods. Women in Morocco have been using Argan oil for generations to achieve more youthful, healthy skin. It reduces inflammation and redness, improves hydration, and can even be used to treat scars and acne. You can also use it as a hair treatment for deep conditioning or as a pre-styling product to add instant shine. It’s packed with twice as much Vitamin E as other oils so it's amazing for your nails and cuticles. I LOVE THIS STUFF! It's a good thing that there's an abundance of it on the market, and trust me, I've made it my duty to try every one. Here are the brands/versions I'm loving so far...

My growing collection of argan oil :)

Julep Elixir Organic Argan Oil ($24.00) is a phenomenal (and affordable) multi-purpose, lightweight natural oil that just brings out the glow in your skin, hair and nails. You can use Julep Elixir as a daily moisturizer (I use it at as part of my night time routine). Argan oil has been clinically proven to improve skin health. It's not at all heavy – I just take a few drops, warm it between my hands and then pat it into my skin.

Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil ($48 for 1.7 fl.oz/50 ml)  is the one that started it all for me. This legendary, lightweight oil is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Use it as a fast absorbing daily moisturizer, or to heal and condition everything from cuticles to split ends. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs, and triclosan. Plus it is 100% organic and housed in a recyclable glass bottle!

Olie Biologique 100% USDA Certified Organic Argan Oil (50 ml - $40.00) 100% Certification means that nothing was added  to this pure, organically produced, product. You get 100% non-processed, chemical-free, organic argan oil of the highest quality. It’s suitable for all skin types (and believe me, it’s true; I have uber oily skin and was skeptical in the beginning). It’s rich in vitamins and highly effective antioxidants like vitamin E, contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids (like Omega-6), carotenoids, ferulic acid, sterols, polyphenols. It improves dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles & premature aging. It doesn’t clog your pores and it regulates sebum production (a plus for blemished skin). It restores elasticity to skin and noticeably softens wrinkles and fine lines, reduces skin irritation and inflammation, smoothes stretch marks, strengthens brittle nails, and restores shine to hair and helps mend split ends. (The one pictured in the collage is the Olie Biologique Huile Moderne (which I have sample of and love)-it is $56 for 30 ml and is an eco-savvy face and body oil formulated with five 100 percent USDA-certified organic oils and vitamin E, that works on both dry and oily skin. It's a richly scented organic oil blend, free of preservatives and chemical fillers. It contains argan oil to hydrate skin, rosehip oil to promote collagen production, and bergamot oil to clear up concerns like acne and redness. Neroli and frankincense oils are in there to fade scars and promote healthy, smooth skin as well as an infusion of antioxidant-rich vitamin E to fight free radicals for anti-aging effects.)

Maijan Moroccan Argan Oil with Grapeseed & Essential Oils ($49.95 for 2 fl oz)- my brand new fave. It smells divine! Maijan Pure Moroccan Argan Oil is infused with grapeseed oil and essential oils; it’s the perfect solution for healthy hair and skin.  This helps soothe and soften both dry and frizzy hair and troubled skin.  Maijan's secret blend of the organic argan oil infused with grapeseed and essential oils gives your hair and skin a sense of pure luxury like none other.

Just in case that wasn't enough for you, here are a few honorable mentions:

NOW Solutions Argan Oil 100% Pure & Certified Organic, 2 fl oz ($15.99)
John Masters Organics 100% Argan Oil 2oz,  ($42.00)
Kahina Giving Beauty Argan Oil ($82.00)

Are you as addicted to Argan Oil as I am? Have you tried any of the ones mentioned? What are your favorites? How do you use it? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and tell me what you think. Until next time...

  2. I love this post! I'm obsessed with argan oil too. My mom introduced me to it about 2 years ago and I started a business based on argan oil because I was nuts about it. Please check out Defend, my main product, which has 7 ingredients - certified organic argan oil, lavender, bergamot, frankincense, myrrh, carrot seed oil, and geranium (http://www.purelementnaturals.com/defend.html).Let me know what you think and if you'd like to try some out. Thanks!

  3. I can't live without argan oil either, I found out about it at the beginning of this year. I've used lots of argan oil products but the highest quality (in my opinion) is Pro Naturals moroccan argan oil. THanks for sharing!

  4. Do you feel there is any real difference between the brands? If not, I'll opt for the least expensive! :)

    1. Honestly, I haven't noticed a real difference in the brands (other than the scent in some of them if they've added additional oils/ingredients). One of the first ones that I fell in love with was from Julep (and it was in included in my $19.99 subscription box with 2 nail polishes) and I do believe that if you sign up to be a Maven (which you can do through the button on my sidebar)they have the 100% Natural Organic Argan Oil on special for $14.99. If you find any other inexpensive brands, the benefits of argan oil are really worth giving it a shot!
