THE Concealer: Evie Evan Part One

I've already shared my affection for subscription services with you lovelies (here and here), among the hits (New Beauty Test Tube, Birchbox, and Julep Maven) there has been a miss (I'm talking to you Beauty Box 5). I don't want to even get into what's wrong with that whole operation; let's just say, if you want to check it out, do so at your own risk. I'd advise that you spend your money elsewhere, but that's just my humble opinion.

The one shining light out of my 3 months with BB5 (well, one of the two, the full size Rosebud Salve was pretty cool) was a skincare sample from a company that I had never heard of, Evie Evan. Included with the sample was a product menu/business card, and I can't even describe how stoked I was to see that the phone number was local!

I resolved to get in contact with someone with the company and I'm so glad I did! At Evie Evan,  the main focus is skin care and the story behind the inception of the company is truly inspiring; I will discuss more about that in a future post. Right now I want to share one of my new favorite products with you, Evie Evan's Cleen Mineral Concealer...

Cleen Mineral Concealer from Evie Evan

Part of the conversation that I had with the wonderful Kayleigh of Evie Evan, included my desire to find a good concealer. I had been using the Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in NSA...

...and while I love the coverage and color of the UD Concealer (which I use mainly to brighten the area under my eyes and to cover the occasional blemish), formula wise it just wasn't a match for my oily skin. Even after I set it with powder, when I glanced in the mirror a few hours after application, I would notice that  the concealer migrated and settled into the fine lines below my eyes. Not cute. So I was on the lookout for something that was not to heavy, not too light, that could hold it's own against my oiliness. Kayleigh said she knew exactly what I needed and recommended the Cleen Mineral Concealer in Medium. Here's what the Evie Evan website says about it:

"The best concealer out there hands down. Evie Evan's  Mineral Concealer smoothes on without a struggle, so no pulling on your skin. It also provides great coverage without being too thick, and dries to a powder finish. Cover and conceal while still letting your skin breath."

I'm in love. It's so creamy and easy to apply and blends like a dream. It's a mineral based formula, so it let's your skin breath. It stays put, never feels cakey, and keeps true to color (no ashy or orange undertones, no matter how long you wear it). What's more, a little goes a LONG way! I only need the tiniest speck on my finger to dab under each eye, and an even more minuscule amount to cover a dark mark or pimple. I honestly don't see how I could possibly hit pan in the package! The coverage is so good and natural looking; on days when I'm short on time (or just feeling lazy), I can get away with using a bit of concealer and a little powder to soak up my shine and I'm good to go!

Needless to say, I'm a fan of the brand. And while I am totally enamored with their cosmetics (they also carry a mineral foundation and various color cosmetics), the true star of Evie Evan is their skin care...

Stay tuned for part two! Until next time...

Ciao, XxO
