Though I REALLY wanted to go on an all out shopping spree, the hubby's presence kind of hampered that notion. I got to swatch a few gems at the CCO that I hope will still be there when I return, but I had the most fun at Nordies. Initially I just wanted to swatch a few things from the new collection and come back later (by myself) to get a few things, but the MAC artist that helped me was SO nice and SO helpful, I ended up buying something then and there (and have added a few things to my MAC wish list).
Now, if I was smart, I would've taken a picture of myself before I took off my contacts and changed clothes, but c'est la vie. What started out as me swatching blushes, turned into me sitting down and asking questions, and having the lovely Melina do a little touch up on my face makeup. The lighting in there is superb and I loved everything that she suggested (and tried on me), so even though I just walked away with just one item, I'll DEFINITELY be back for the rest!
I had to scoop up the limited edition blush in Fleet Fast from the Hey, Sailor! collection. It's a beautiful pinky coral that looked perfect on my skintone; and it's right on trend for spring/summer. Between the adorable packaging, and the fact that there were only two of them left, my decision to buy it was sort of easy!

Melina asked if she could show me anything else, and since the hubby was keeping the girls occupied, I figured I'd ask her about a matte bronzer I could use for contouring (right now, I'm using something I have from way back when I was selling mark.). She took a good look at my complexion and suggested another blush instead of a bronzer. She whipped out Blunt Powder Blush, and with a 168 Large Angled Contour Brush, applied it to the hollows of my cheeks and temples. It is now a must have for me!

Next, she pulled out MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit to use as a highlight. I love how it left my skin glowing but not shiny (my oily skin has given me an aversion to shine in general)...

Finally, I asked her about a finishing powder, to extend the life of my makeup and to take care of my aforementioned oiliness. Her suggestion? MAC Mineralize Skinfinish of course! Deep Dark was the best shade for me...

This is a testament to the power of good and knowledgeable sales people! I went in just to browse, and ended up making a purchase and fully intend to buying everything else she suggested. What's more important, I could just as easily purchase the items online (from various different places) or go to another MAC counter, but because of the excellent customer service I received from Melina, and the warm reception we always get when we go to the Nordstrom at the Mall of Georgia, I will most definitely return there to purchase these goodies.
So do you have a favorite store or sales person? What are you favorite MAC products? What is on your MAC wish list? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Until next time...

If you love MAC's Blunt blush then you DEFINITELY need to try out Guerlain's Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 08. It does have a slight shimmer, but it's barely noticeable and so much more natural than Blunt.
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's worth the investment even at $50 a pop.
Lol. You had me until you said $50, but I've heard nothing but good things about Guerlain, so it's definitely worth looking into! Thank you so much for the recommendation... Now to convince the hubby that it's really an "investment." :)
DeleteI have MAC gold deposit but find it a bit too 'gold' if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteWhat technique do you use to apply?
